Cherry Avocado Smoothie Bowl Ingredients
This recipe only requires 5 ingredients to make this creamy smoothie bowl.
- Organic Avocado: It wouldn’t be the same without an avocado to this breakfast combination. Adding a ripe avocado makes an extra creamy smoothie. Also, adding an avocado provides healthy fats, potassium, fiber and plenty of B vitamins. Don’t worry, thanks to the cherries and banana, you won’t even taste the avocado.
- Organic Banana: A frozen banana adds even more sweetness and creaminess to this smoothie bowl.
- Organic Cherries: The star of this smoothie bowl. I love using frozen tart cherries but regular frozen cherries or a cherry & berry mix would be perfect.
- Organic Coconut Yogurt: Coconut yogurt provides a boost of healthy fats and probiotics, but feel free to use a dairy free yogurt if you’d like.
- Organic Unsweetened Non-dairy Milk: You only need a little liquid to blend, since it’s a smoothie bowl. I used unsweetened almond milk, but you can use any non-dairy milk that you enjoy.
How to make this Creamy Cherry Avocado Smoothie Bowl
All it takes is 3 simple steps, 4 minutes, and 5 ingredients to make this smoothie bowl!
- Add: To begin, add the non-dairy milk, coconut yogurt, avocado, frozen cherries, and the frozen banana, to a high-speed blender.
- Blend: Starting on a low speed, use a tamper to help ingredients blend. Pausing & scraping down sides of the blender as needed. If necessary, add additional non-dairy milk in 1/4 cup increments, until a thick, smooth texture is achieved.
- Serve: Then, transfer your smoothie to a chilled bowl. Garnish with frozen cherries, vegan gluten-free & nut-free, and coconut flakes, if desired. Enjoy!

Smoothie Bowl Toppings
Although toppings aren’t required, it truly takes this smoothie bowl to the next level. Feel free to personalize to your liking. Top with something light, crunchy, sweet, fresh, or whatever you desire. I topped mine with frozen cherries, vegan gluten-free & nut-free granola, and a sprinkle some coconut flakes. Of course, you can top with whatever you want, so I will provide you with some tasty smoothie bowl topping suggestions.
- Fresh Organic Berries: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, etc.

- Organic Coconut Yogurt

Tips for Making the Perfect Smoothie Bowl
- Use a frozen banana and frozen cherries to achieve a thick consistency.
- Start with a little liquid as possible, and add more only as needed. You can always add more, but once you add too much, you can’t go back! Pausing in between blending to scrape down sides helps as well.
- Use a high-speed blender, with a tamper, to ensure that your smoothie bowl achieves a thick and creamy texture.
- Place your serving bowl in the freezer before you begin preparing this recipe and remove it when smoothie is ready. This will ensure that your smoothie bowl stays cold as you enjoy it.
Fresh versus Frozen Ingredients
The key to making smoothie bowls is using frozen ingredients. By adding frozen avocado, frozen banana, & frozen cherries to your smoothie, you will achieve a thicker result, so that you can add toppings, without them sinking. I usually start with a little non-dairy milk and add more, if needed, until I reach the desired thickness.

Yes! To increase the protein content of this smoothie bowl, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder. I recommend using an organic unflavored protein powder for this smoothie bowl recipe.
