Why You’ll Love This Carrot Cake Smoothie Bowl
- Tastes like a slice of carrot cake, but in a smoothie bowl form.
- This breakfast is creamy and healthy. It contains wholesome ingredients such as raw carrots, a frozen banana, frozen pineapple, coconut milk, nut butter, and cozy spices.
- Plus, you can customize this smoothie bowl, by adding your favorite toppings.
Carrot Cake Smoothie Bowl Ingredients
This carrot cake smoothie bowl has all of the enjoyable flavors of carrot cake, including the cozy spices like cinnamon, natural sweeteners from the fruit and carrots, as well as a few other simple ingredients packed with nutrients. Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
- Organic Raw Carrot: It would be a carrot cake smoothie without carrots. This smoothie bowl recipe calls for two large carrots. Be mindful, if you don’t have a high-speed blender, it might be hard to completely blend the raw carrot.
- Organic Frozen Banana: A frozen banana adds more sweetness and creaminess to this smoothie bowl!
- Organic Frozen Pineapple: Including pineapple in this carrot cake smoothie bowl adds a unique sweetness that brings out the carrot cake flavor.
- Organic Full-Fat Unsweetened Coconut Milk: I love using coconut milk in this recipe, because it adds a tropical, creamy flavor. However, if you don’t have any coconut milk, feel free to use any milk that you have on hand.
- Organic Coconut Yogurt: To keep the recipe smooth and creamy, I used coconut yogurt. I typically use plain coconut yogurt in my smoothie recipes, but you can use vanilla if you prefer a sweeter smoothie, or feel free to use any dairy-free yogurt.
- Organic Nut Butter: For this recipe I used pecan butter, but almond butter works well too. Adding nut butter to this recipe creates the nice, toasty flavor often found in carrot cake.
- Organic Spices: Don’t forget the ceylon cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. It truly helps bring out that spiced carrot cake flavor!
- Organic Ground Flax Seeds: Flaxseeds are loaded with nutrients, high in omega-3 fats, rich in dietary fiber, and you can’t even taste them. They are completely optional, so no problem if you don’t have them…yet!

- Add: To begin, add all smoothie bowl ingredients in a high-speed blender.

Smoothie bowl toppings are the seriously the best part. For this Carrot Cake Smoothie Bowl, I topped mine with some homemade vegan granola, chopped pecans, shredded coconut, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Nevertheless, you can top your smoothie bowl with whatever you desire. Here are some more topping ideas that pair great with this smoothie bowl:
- Fresh Organic Berries: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, etc.
- Sliced Organic Banana
- Chopped Organic Medjool Dates
- Toasted Organic Nuts/Seeds: almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, pecans, walnuts, etc.
- Organic Nut Butter: almond butter, creamy peanut butter, hazelnut butter, cashew butter, SunButter, pecan butter, etc.
- Granola: use your favorite granola. Try my vegan gluten-free & nut-free granola, peanut butter granola, coconut cashew granola, chocolate coconut granola, or almond joy granola.
- Organic Coconut Yogurt
Tips for making the Perfect Smoothie Bowl
To make the perfect smoothie bowl, make sure to follow these tips!
- Use a frozen fruit to achieve a thick consistency.
- Start with a little liquid as possible, and add more only as needed. You can always add more, but once you add too much, you can’t go back! Pausing in between blending to scrape down sides helps as well.
- Use a high-speed blender, with a tamper, to ensure that your smoothie bowl achieves a thick and creamy texture.
- Place your serving bowl in the freezer before you begin preparing this recipe and remove it when smoothie is ready. This will ensure that your smoothie bowl stays cold as you enjoy it.

Fresh versus Frozen Ingredients
The key to making smoothie bowls is using frozen ingredients. By adding frozen banana & frozen cherries to your smoothie, you will achieve a thicker result, so that you can add toppings, without them sinking. I usually start with a little non-dairy milk and add more, if needed, until I reach the desired thickness.
