This Superfood Chocolate Almond Cookie Smoothie recipe is my take on the Erewhon x FORM Fuel Smoothie collab. Blended with organic ingredients & tastes like the real deal, but at a fraction of the LA price. It’s the perfect chocolate protein smoothie recipe to satisfy your cookie cravings!

While I have created a Superfood Chocolate Cashew Cookie Smoothie recipe in the past, this one is extra special. Not only is it an Erewhon smoothie, but more importantly/deliciously, it’s the FORM Fuel Smoothie.
If you have no idea what Erewhon or FORM is, let me fill you in real quick! Erewhon is an iconic LA health store chain, which is one the most expensive grocery stores in the United States. And Form is the best online platform for all things fitness, wellness, & self love. To say that I am obsessed with the two is an understatement, so it was just about time that I recreated the collab.
As the title states, it literally tastes and looks like a dessert in a glass, but with all of my smoothie creations, it’s made with nutritious ingredients. That way you can enjoy all the flavors of the original, but at a fraction of the cost. Unless you buy all your food from Erewhon. JK, but not really. Besides, there is no need to travel to LA and even if you have never heard of the market, you will still be obsessed, if not addictive.
So if you love Erewhon, FORM, chocolate cookies, or all three, you’ll be obsessed with this Superfood Chocolate Almond Cookie Smoothie.
Why You’ll Love This Erewhon Smoothie Recipe
- Loaded with Superfoods: For added nutrition, without compromising the taste!
- Creamy with a Crunch: The addition of cacao nibs, provides this smoothie with that perfect bite.
- Perfect Protein Smoothie: Whether you’re making it post workout or breakfast, this FORM Fuel Smoothie will have you fully satisfied, as it’s packed with 30 grams of plant protein.
- Organic Shop Worthy: The flavor & texture in this Superfood Chocolate Almond Cookie Smoothie is that found at the famous organic grocery store, but at a fraction of the cost.
Almond Butter Health Benefits & Nutrition
One of the main components in making this Erewhon x FORM Fuel Smoothie recipe is almond butter. Over the years, almond butter has definitely gained quite a bit of popularity and for a good reason. Not only for the nutty tastes, but health benefits that are superfood worthy. I will note that when selecting almond butter, quality matters. That being said, there should not be any cane sugar, vegetable oil, or trans fats. My biggest suggestion is to buy an organic raw almond butter made with 1 ingredient – organic almonds! This way you can receive all of the almond butter benefits without the negative side effects. In moderation, organic raw almond butter offers the following health benefits:
- Full of Healthy Fats for Overall Health
- Enhanced Cognitive Function
- Rich in Fiber to Promote Healthy Digestion
- Helps Regulate Blood Sugar Levels
- Protein Packed to Help You Stay Full Longer

Ingredients
- Organic Unsweetened Oat Milk: Any non-dairy milk works in this recipe, but I love oat milk! Just be sure to use trusted brands – I like MALK Organics or Three Trees.
- Organic Vanilla Plant Protein: Adding a scoop of protein powder helps to keep you full and satisfied longer. I love Four Sigmatic’s Sweet Vanilla Plant Protein for this recipe. It’s made with real organic vanilla with no grains, gums or fillers. Oh & it’s super delicious. Nevertheless, if you have yet to try Four Sigmatic’s Sweet Vanilla Plant Protein, add your favorite vanilla plant protein.
- Organic Cacao Powder: It’s the perfect addition to make this protein smoothie chocolatey! To be clear, cacao powder is different from regular dutch cocoa powder. Cacao powder is pure, raw cacao versus processed. Plus, cacao is rich in magnesium.
- Organic Superfoods: Organic lucuma & organic tocotrienols. If you only have one of these incredible superfoods on hand, use it, but if you don’t have either, this smoothie will still be incredible without them. Super confused on superfoods? Check out this superfood post!
- Organic Raw Almond Butter: For some extra creamines, protein, and healthy fats! Don’t skip this, obviously!
- Organic Ground Flax Seeds: Instead of udos oil, we’ll be using ground flax seeds to add a great little boost of fiber & minerals to this smoothie.
- Sea Salt: A healthy pinch of sea salt is rich in a ton of minerals and beautifully enhances the flavor of this chocolate cookie smoothie.
- Organic Medjool Date: Adding just one date to this date smoothie adds the perfect amount of sweetness.
- Organic Frozen Banana: It’s best to use a frozen banana to create that super thick & creamy texture.
- Organic Cacao Nibs: Because every cookie smoothie needs some chocolate chips, or in this case cacao nibs. Cacao nibs give the smoothie lots of texture, with a little crunch with every sip. Obsessed.
- Organic Servings: Completely optional, but if you’re wanting an extra special Erewhon smoothie treat, swirl some melted dark chocolate around the glass and dollop on some homemade coconut whipped cream, as well as an extra sprinkle of cacao nibs.
How To Make
- Blend the Liquids & Powders. First, add the non-dairy milk, vanilla plant protein, cacao powder, superfoods, almond butter, seeds, and sea salt, to a high-speed blender. Blend these ingredients until smooth.
- Blend the Medjool Date. Add the soft medjool date to the blender and blend until smooth.
- Blend the Frozen Ingredients. Next, add in the frozen banana. Blend until smooth and creamy. If needed, you can pause the blender, remove the lid, and scrape down the sides so that everything is fully incorporated. You may need to add a little more non-dairy milk depending on how thick/thin you like your smoothies
- Blend the Cacao Nibs. Add the cacao nibs. Blend for 20 seconds on medium.
- Chocolate Swirl. In a glass, swirl some melted dark chocolate around the sides.
- Serve. Pour into the glass with a dollop of homemade coconut whipped cream and a sprinkle of cacao nibs. Enjoy!
Optional Smoothie Add-Ins
Feel free to truly make this smoothie your own! Here are a few suggestions to amp-up this Superfood Chocolate Almond Cookie Smoothie recipe:
- Organic Hemp Seeds: Add in a tablespoon of organic hemp seeds for a boost of healthy fats, protein, omegas & minerals.
- Organic Chia Seeds: Incorporate a tablespoon of organic chia seeds to amp up omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, selenium, phosphorus, calcium, etc.
- Organic Coconut Yogurt: Add some creaminess to this smoothie with a scoop of coconut yogurt. You may have to reduce the oat milk to ½ cup in this smoothie when adding yogurt. My favorite brands are Culina or The Coconut Cult!
- Organic Cold Brew: Need a boost? Use half organic unsweetened non-dairy milk & half cold brew, to turn this into a mocha cookie smoothie. YUM!
- Organic Greens: You can get your greens in too in this FORM Fuel Smoothie. They blend easily & you can’t taste them. Plus, greens are packed with so many minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants. Spinach, kale, swiss chard, mustard greens, collard greens, or mixed greens all work.
Tips for Making the Perfect Smoothie
Interested in how to make the absolute perfect Superfood Chocolate Almond Cookie Smoothie? As someone who makes smoothies daily, here are my TOP tips:
- Use Frozen Fruit: Adding a frozen to this smoothie is the only way to go! The ice from the frozen fruits adds thickness to the smoothie.
- Soak Medjool Date: If your dates aren’t soft, you will need to soak your pitted date in very warm water for 5 minutes. This will help them soften up, so that they can blend nicely.
- Adjust Liquid Amount: If you find that your smoothie is too thick to blend, not to worry! Just add a bit more milk, blend, open the cover, scrape down the sides if needed, and blend again. And when possible, always use a larger high-speed blender instead, as it will blend the ingredients much better.
- How To Make: Add your liquid first & blend your powders first, then the medjool date, before adding your frozen ingredients. This is my personal favorite way of preparing my smoothies. By blending the liquid & powders first, it ensures that your powders blend completely.
- Smoothie Blending Tip: Start your blender on low to medium speed. If you blend the smoothie too quickly from the beginning, it’s really hard for the blender to properly blend the frozen ingredients – so start lower and then gradually increase the speed.
- Blend Cacao Nibs Last: The reason for adding the cacao nibs last, is because you don’t want them to get as creamy like the smoothie – you want them to retain their structure, for texture. That makes this smoothie a bit crunchy, which I love!
- Chill Your Glass: There’s nothing better than a cold smoothie, in this case, a chocolate cookie milkshake. Put your serving glass in the fridge or freezer while you’re making your smoothie to ensure a chilled smoothie with every sip.
Smoothie FAQ’s
Do I have to use a frozen banana?
The frozen banana in this recipe gives the smoothie a thick & creamy texture. If using a fresh banana, be to add a handful of ice cubes to achieve a cold, thick smoothie. However, if you’re looking to remove the banana altogether, because you’re allergic or simply don’t like them, you can replace it with ½ cup of frozen zucchini, frozen cauliflower, or frozen avocado chunks. If you elect to make this a banana free smoothie, I recommend keeping the organic medjool date to maintain its sweetness.
Is it healthy to have a smoothie?
Duh! I wouldn’t post something that was unhealthy. Having a smoothie full of protein, healthy fats, & superfoods for a post workout breakfast is great because you’ll be getting essential vitamins, nutrients, & protein, first thing. However, some smoothies on the market or on the web can be loaded with tons of fruit, added sugar, & nonsense, making them a less healthy option.
What is the best protein powder to use?
For this FORM Fuel Smoothie, I love using Four Sigmatic’s Vanilla Plant Protein. It’s made with real organic ingredients with no grains, gums, or fillers. When selecting a plant protein, it’s crucial to look at the protein content and most importantly, the ingredients.
How can I add protein without using protein powder?
If you don’t have vanilla plant protein on hand, you can add a tablespoon of organic hemp seeds and/or organic chia seeds, without changing the taste too much.
Do I have to add superfoods?
Even though this is a Superfood Chocolate Almond Cookie Smoothie recipe, you are not required to add them. However, I do recommend looking into them, as there are incredible benefits of consuming them on a regular basis. And if you only have a couple of superfood powders, that’s great! Use what you’ve got for this smoothie recipe. For additional superfood information, be sure to check out this superfood post!
Do I have to add organic raw almond butter?
Even though raw almond butter is one of the main components of this Erewhon smoothie recipe it is not mandatory. However, if you elect to not include it, I highly recommend swapping for your preferred nut or seed butter. I think organic sunflower seed butter would compliment this cookie smoothie nicely. Alternatively, you could even use ¼ cup of organic raw almonds.
Can I make this smoothie recipe in advance?
Yes! Feel free to make this Erewhon smoothie as is or double it for later. Check out this “How to Prepare Smoothies in Advance” post to achieve the best results.
