Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl Ingredients
All it takes is 5 minutes to make this 7 ingredient smoothie bowl recipe.
- Organic Cacao Powder: To make the smoothie chocolatey! To be clear, cacao powder is different from regular dutch cocoa powder. Cacao powder is pure, raw cacao versus processed. Plus, cacao is rich in magnesium.
- Organic Peanut Butter: It wouldn’t be a chocolate peanut butter cup if there wasn’t any peanut butter. Use creamy peanut butter, to add into your chocolate smoothie bowl. It should be runny, like a thick liquid, made with 1 ingredient, peanuts!
- Organic Frozen Banana: A frozen banana adds more sweetness and creaminess to this smoothie bowl!
- Organic Frozen Cauliflower: I know it sounds odd, but adding frozen cauliflower is where the thick texture comes from. Don’t worry, you can’t taste it. I recommend using store bought frozen cauliflower, or even frozen cauliflower rice, because it blends up nicely.
- Organic Medjool Dates: Just adding a couple of dates makes this smoothie bowl extra creamy and sweet. Also, be sure to make sure that your dates are pitted.
- Organic Unsweetened Non-dairy Milk: You only need a little liquid to blend, since it’s a smoothie bowl. I used unsweetened almond milk, but you can use any non-dairy milk that you enjoy.
- Organic Ground Flax Seeds: Flaxseeds are loaded with nutrients, high in omega-3 fats, rich in dietary fiber, and you can’t even taste them. They are completely optional, so no problem if you don’t have them…yet!
How to make this Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Smoothie Bowl
- Add: To begin, add the non-dairy milk, cacao powder, creamy peanut butter, ground flax seeds, frozen banana, Medjool dates, and frozen cauliflower rice, in a high-speed blender.
- Blend: Starting on a low speed, use a tamper to help ingredients blend. Pausing & scraping down sides of the blender as needed. If necessary, add additional non-dairy milk in 1/4 cup increments, until a thick, smooth texture is achieved.
- Serve: Transfer your chocolate peanut butter cup smoothie to a chilled bowl. Garnish with chocolate peanut butter granola, cacao nibs, chocolate covered chia seeds, and a drizzle of creamy peanut butter, if desired. Enjoy!

Tips for Making the Perfect Smoothie Bowl
To make the perfect smoothie bowl, make sure to follow these recommendations!
- Be sure to use a frozen banana and frozen cauliflower to achieve a thick consistency.
- Start with a little liquid as possible, and add more only as needed. You can always add more, but once you add too much, you can’t go back! Pausing in between blending to scrape down sides helps as well.
- Use a high-speed blender, with a tamper, to ensure that your smoothie bowl achieves a thick and creamy texture.
- Place your serving bowl in the freezer before you begin preparing this recipe and remove it when smoothie is ready. This will ensure that your smoothie bowl stays cold as you enjoy it.
Fresh versus Frozen Ingredients
The key to making smoothie bowls is using frozen ingredients. By adding frozen banana & frozen cauliflower to your smoothie, you will achieve a thicker result, so that you can add toppings, without them sinking. I usually start with a little non-dairy milk and add more, if needed, until I reach the desired thickness.

Yes! To increase the protein content of this smoothie bowl, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder. I recommend using an organic cacao protein powder for this smoothie bowl recipe.
