Ingredients
- Organic Portobello Mushrooms: The star of this vegan mushroom steak recipe. We’ll be using 6 large portobello mushrooms. You’ll want to be sure to wipe them clean before marinating them.
- Organic Marinade: A combination of avocado oil, garlic cloves, ground cumin, dried oregano, chili flakes, balsamic vinegar, steak sauce, sea salt, and black pepper, for the most epic mushroom marinade.
- Organic White Bean Mash: A rich, creamy, and protein-packed combination of white beans, garlic, nutritional yeast, and olive oil, are whipped up to compliment the vegan steaks.
How To Make
- Mushroom Steaks. Add portobello mushrooms to a shallow baking dish. Set aside. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the avocado oil, ground cumin, garlic cloves, balsamic vinegar, steak sauce, sea salt, & black pepper. Add sauce to the mushrooms and use a pastry brush to brush on all sides. Marinate on one side for 5 minutes, then the other side for 5 minutes. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook on each side for 2 – 3 minutes, or until caramelized and deep golden brown. Brush on any remaining marinade while cooking to infuse more flavor.
- White Bean Mash. Add all ingredients to a food processor or high-speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Transfer to a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring until warmed through.
- Serve. Divide the white bean mash between plates/bowl. Top with the mushrooms and extra chili flakes, if desired. Enjoy!
