Chocolate Hazelnut Overnight Oats Ingredients
- Organic Gluten-Free Rolled Oats: Rolled oats, also known as old fashioned oats, are the best kind of oats to use for overnight oats, because they absorb the liquid the best. However, if you only have quick oats on hand, you can use them too!
- Organic Cacao Powder: To make the oats chocolatey! To be clear, cacao powder is different from regular dutch cocoa powder. Cacao powder is pure, raw cacao versus processed. Plus, cacao is rich in magnesium.
- Organic Pure Maple Syrup: Just a little to sweeten the oats. You can also sub the maple syrup for coconut sugar or organic manuka honey.
- Organic Hazelnut Butter: This is essential for this oatmeal recipe.
- Organic Chocolate Covered Chia Seeds: Adding chocolate covered chia seeds truly takes this overnight oats recipe to the next level. If you don’t have them, no worries! Just use regular chia seeds.
- Organic Ground Flax Seeds: Loaded with nutrients, high in omega-3 fats, rich in dietary fiber, and you can’t even taste them. They are completely optional, so no problem if you don’t have them…yet!
- Organic Coconut Yogurt: To keep the recipe smooth and creamy, I used coconut yogurt. I typically use plain coconut yogurt in my overnight oats recipes, but you can use vanilla if you prefer a sweeter smoothie, or feel free to use any dairy-free yogurt.
- Organic Unsweetened Non-Dairy Milk: Any non-dairy milk will work. I personally used organic full-fat coconut milk in this recipe.

Tips for Making this Overnight Oats Recipe Perfectly
Overnight oats are easy to make, but be sure to follow these tips to ensure a breakfast treat.
- Use organic gluten-free rolled oats for a chewy texture or quick oats for a softer texture.
- Be sure to mix together the wet ingredients, before adding in the dry ingredients.
- For preparation, mix this recipe in large bowl, because it’s easier to stir.
Overnight Oats Toppings
One of the great things about overnight oats, or really just oatmeal in general, is the opportunity for toppings. To maximize the chocolate hazelnut flavor I selected coconut yogurt, chocolate covered chia seeds, toasted hazelnuts, and a drizzle of dark chocolate. Nevertheless, you can decorate your Nutella oatmeal with whatever you desire! Here’s some ideas:
- Fresh Organic Berries: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, cherries, etc.
- Organic Banana Slices
- Organic Nut Butter: creamy peanut butter, almond butter, pecan butter, cashew butter, hazelnut butter, etc.
- Chopped Organic Nuts or Seeds: peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, pecans, cashews, walnuts, hazelnuts, etc.
- Organic Hemp Seeds or Organic Chia Seeds
- Organic Coconut Flakes or Organic Shredded Coconut

Substitutions
- If you don’t have organic ground flax seeds, you can use the same amount of organic chia seeds, or completely omit.
- This overnight oats recipe calls for thick coconut yogurt, I recommend the Culina brand. However, you can use any non-dairy yogurt for this recipe.
- If you don’t have organic chocolate covered chia seeds, use organic chia seeds.
