Chocolate Avocado Smoothie Bowl Ingredients
This recipe only requires 7 ingredients to make this tasty smoothie bowl.
- Organic Frozen Avocado: Adding a ripe avocado makes this smoothie bowl extra creamy. It also provides healthy fats, potassium, fiber and plenty of B vitamins. Don’t worry, thanks to the other delicious & nutritious ingredients, you won’t even taste the avocado.
- Organic Frozen Banana: A frozen banana adds more sweetness and creaminess to this smoothie bowl.
- Organic Frozen Cauliflower: I know it sounds crazy, but adding frozen cauliflower is where the thick texture comes from. Don’t worry, you can’t taste it. I recommend using store bought frozen cauliflower, or even frozen cauliflower rice, because it blends up nicely.
- Organic Medjool Dates: Adding a couple of dates makes this smoothie bowl extra creamy and sweet. Also, be sure to make sure that your dates are pitted.
- Organic Unsweetened Non-dairy Milk: You only need a little liquid to blend, since it’s a smoothie bowl. I used unsweetened cashew milk, but you can use any non-dairy milk that you enjoy.
- Organic Peanut Butter: A scoop of creamy peanut butter is key to tying this smoothie bowl together. I recommend using creamy peanut butter, made with 1 ingredient, peanuts!
- Organic Cacao Powder: To make the smoothie chocolatey! To be clear, cacao powder is different from regular dutch cocoa powder. Cacao powder is pure, raw cacao versus processed. Plus, cacao is rich in magnesium.

Tips for making the perfect smoothie bowl
To make the perfect smoothie bowl, make sure to follow these tips!
- Be sure to use frozen fruit and frozen cauliflower to achieve a thick consistency.
- Start with a little liquid as possible, and add more only as needed. You can always add more, but once you add too much, you can’t go back! Pausing in between blending to scrape down sides helps as well.
- Use a high-speed blender, with a tamper, to ensure that your smoothie bowl achieves a thick and creamy texture.
- Make sure that your creamy peanut butter is made with one ingredient, peanuts!
- Place your serving bowl in the freezer before you begin preparing this recipe and remove it when smoothie is ready. This will ensure that your smoothie bowl stays cold as you enjoy it.

Fresh versus Frozen Ingredients
The key to making smoothie bowls is using frozen ingredients. By adding frozen banana & frozen cauliflower to your smoothie, you will achieve a thicker result, so that you can add toppings, without them sinking. I usually start with a little non-dairy milk and add more, if needed, until I reach the desired thickness.
